We are pleased to announce that rFactor Pro now supports vehicle models developed in CarSim from Mechanical Simulation Corporation.  CarSim is being used by both motorsport teams and automotive industry users.

With the signing of Force India we are delighted to announce that half of the current F1 grid are now rFactor Pro users. James Key, Force India's Technical Director explains their choice:

“The 2009 season rule changes meant aerodynamics was our number one priority. When we started budgeting for the 2010 season it became clear that driver-in-the-loop simulation was a technology we had to take advantage of to build on our achievements this year.

We have been watching the driver-in-the-loop simulation marketplace very closely over the last two seasons, during which time the quality has improved and the costs have reduced by an order of magnitude. We decided the time was right to invest in an rFactor Pro based solution as the projected return on investment, in terms of performance gain for a given spend, placed rFactor Pro right at the top of our list. It also provides higher quality visualization and a more comprehensive simulation environment than any other system we evaluated.”

rFactor Pro now also supports vehicle models developed in VI-Grade's Car Real Time (CRT) system. This also provides a route for MSC Adams users to run their models real-time with a driver-in-the-loop using VI-Grade's model import capability.

rFactor Pro will be at the World Motorsport Symposium 2009, Oxford Brookes University on the 19th and 20th November.

rFactor Pro is already being used by 5 Formula 1 teams as their primary simulator for engineering development, setup evaluation and driver training. Our standard F1 configuration incorporates McLaren Electronic Systems’ vTAG product, which allows the ECU to be run real-time software-in-the-loop alongside System Monitor for control system and model calibration and ATLAS for data analysis.

June 2009

Populous, the architects retained by Silverstone Circuits Ltd to design the new 2010 layout, used rFactor Pro to evaluate their proposed layout. By running half-grids of 12 cars with rFactor Pro's driver model they were able to demonstrate how the new design introduces two new overtaking oppertunities to this high-speed circuit.

The May edition of RaceTech magazine includes a feature about the A1GP simulator which was recently upgraded to rFactor Pro running the Magnetti Marelli Marvel 8 ECU hardware-in-the-loop.
